Christmas Priests

As we continue to celebrate the Year of the Priest, here’s a great video on the priesthood. May the Infant Lord bless and protect all of his priests who tonight honor his birth at Christmas.

Fr. Rodolfo David Vásquez

I am priest of the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Corpus Christi in Texas. I received my theological and priestly formation at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Overbrook in Philadelphia, PA. I am currently assigned as the chairman of the department of theology at John Paul II High School in Corpus Christi where I also coach baseball and am on the football staff. I also am an adjunct professor of religious studies at the University of the Incarnate Word ADCaP Program in Corpus Christi.

UT INHABITEM DOMO DOMINI

Domino, hoc requiram: ut inhabitem in domo Domini omnibus diebus vitae meae, ut videam voluptatem Domini et vistem templum eius.

"That I may dwell in the house of the Lord" - Ps. 27

One thing I ask of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD, all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

This is my favorite quote from the Davidic Psalms. The quote, "to dwell in the house of the Lord" speaks of three realities to me. The liturgical dimension which speaks of my personal love of the Eucharist and the dignity of the celebration of the Mass, the most priviledge act of any priest, that which makes him a priest. It also echos my own desire to always remain a son of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, the house of the Lord. Finally, our ultimate end, our destiny to dwell for all eternity in the Father's house.
